Glass Door Hinges
Hinges for doors made from glass or acrylic. Most hinges will require the door to be cut or bored. The exception to this is the XL range where the door is held in compression. The hinges and fittings you choose will be supplied with a pattern or template for the holes or cutouts which you will pass to your supplier. They will also be supplied with screws, bushings and washers in a compliant material to expediate installation. The door will need to be cut and drilled by a specialist. Cutting is usually done with a high pressure water jet, an expensive water pistol that fires a jet of water and abrasive powder at up to three times the speed of sound. It has the advantage of smoothly finishing the glass too. Once cut the glass is heated in a furnace and then quenched - cooled rapidly by forced jets of air - to toughen or temper it. Once the door is delivered to you you simply fit the hinges according to the instructions.
